Compromised yet again

I've been creating a tutorial delivery template using Authorware for Coles Myer Ltd, the largest grocery company in Australia. This is for the construction of page-turner resources deployed through their LMS.

It was demanded of me to:

  1. include a provision to lock the forward button until learners had clicked on something on the page;
  2. lock the quiz out if attempts exceeded three.
Learner-centred, my arse. This and other aspects show that this organisation has not graduated past 1994 when it comes to understanding what it means to provide a positive, engaging learning environment for employees.

I have to feed my family, so whilst I made it clear that I firmly objected to this, I'll implement it to their wishes. But it only hardens my resolve to finish my degree and position myself where I no longer have to compromise my beliefs about crafting good learning experiences. I'm sick to death of not being allowed to build learning resources that respect intelligent adults. The sooner I leave all this behind, the better...
