Working in the field of deliberation
I'm pleased to report that I'm now an active worker in my new chosen field.
- I'm working for Dr Lyn Carson as her part-time Research Assistant at University of Sydney. She is a pre-eminent deliberative designer, analyst and academic and it is a great privilege to be in her employ. Most of the research support tasks ahead of me I can complete from my home in Melbourne. My tools of trade are my PC and my phone.
- I've been retained as a consultant to Surf Coast Shire council as they prepare to run a Citizens Jury to help them form policy regarding an aspect of infrastructure planning. This is the setting for a case study that will form the backbone for my Masters Degree dissertation. My focus will be on how learning will be prepared and delivered by council staff and other subject-matter experts so that citizens are placed in the best position to deliberate confidently.
- I've been selected as one of several table facilitators for the Community Summit to be run by the City of Port Phillip.
