Gov 2.0 libertarian platform exposed
I realised yesterday how Gov 2.0 is being advanced to right-wing political advantage. Today, I read that this tension has been exposed during the opening of the Gov 2.0 Summit in the USA. But not how I expected. During a keynote presentation, veteran congressman John Culberson laid waste on the Obama Administration, promoting Gov 2.0 as means to radically shrink a government he frames as corrupt and useless. Conference co-convenor Tim O'Reilly interrupted and chastised him for being too aggressive.
I agree with Personal Democracy Forum commentary that the political agenda of Gov 2.0 should be brought to light. But O'Reilly doesn't want it discussed, he was just trying to hush Culberson up.
O'Reilly's core beliefs match those of Culberson and the libertarian right. Only, as a media man O'Reilly would understand that a quiet, insidious approach will be more effective than bellowing threats. So much for political transparency.
