I'm back from two weeks in Canada with my seven-year-old daughter. I also went to University of Washington to co-lead a postgraduate workshop relating to research following our Australian Citizens' Parliament. There are a few local and international items in my RSS reader and email intray that I want to bookmark here.
- An excellent up-to-the-minute compendium about the world of participatory governance, from General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Citizen Services and Communications. It's in their quarterly Intergovernmental Solutions Newsletter, this volume entitled Engaging Citizens in Government (PDF 3mb)
- Public thinkers tackle critical issues. Malcolm Fraser, the former Prime Minister of Australia and Barry Jones, the former President of the Labor Party will join Robert Manne (Professor of Politics, La Trobe University, convenor of the Ideas & Society Program) in conversation on the question: WHAT IS WRONG WITH AUSTRALIAN DEMOCRACY? Venue: Agora Cinema, La Trobe University, Bundoora campus, Wednesday October 7 at 12.00pm
